Roommates, golf legend Tiger Woods gave his fans a serious scare recently after he was involved in a car accident that caused him to have to be removed by the jaws of life. Now, after a short hospital stay, Tiger is speaking out for the very first time—and thanking his fans and celebrity friends in the process.
To honor Tiger Woods and show support as he recovers from his injuries, both professional golfers and staff members wore Tiger’s signature colors of red and black during the recent Puerto Rico Championship and the last round of the WGC-Workday Championship.
In response, Tiger tweeted the following message:
“It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts. To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”
As we previously reported, Tiger Woods’ team shared that he underwent surgery on his lower right leg and ankle after being taken to UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Anish Mahajan spoke about his injuries and said that Tiger “suffered orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity.”
His injuries continued to be described as “comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula.”
They were stabilized by having a rod inserted into his tibia. He injured the bones in his foot and ankle, and they were stabilized with both screws and pins.
