Here’s What Thomas Matthew Crooks Searched Online
According to USA Today, Crooks reportedly used his phone to search for “images of both President Joe Biden and Trump.” The outlet adds that Crooks also searched for “the FBI director, Christopher Wray; Attorney General Merrick Garland; and a member of the British royal family.”
Meanwhile, after searching Crooks’ laptop, the FBI discovered that the 20-year-old had reiterated his searches on Trump and Biden. Additionally, he allegedly looked up the dates for the Democratic National Convention.
Furthermore, Crooks also used his phone to search for the phrase: “major depressive disorder.”
To note, CNN adds that the content found on Crooks’ phone was not accompanied by “any threatening language or messages.” Additionally, his searches reportedly dated back to springtime earlier this year.
Furthermore, USA Today initially reported that “days before the shooting,” Crooks wrote an “ominous warning” on the gaming platform Steam. According to the company’s official website, it is the “ultimate destination for playing, discussing, and creating games.”
“July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds,” the outlet reported as Crooks’ post.
However, CNN has since reported that the Steam account is now believed to have been a fake.
Footage Has Surfaced Reportedly Showing Gunman At The Rally An Hour Before Shooting
According to CNN, Crooks visited the location of the Butler rally twice — the day of the shooting and one time before. The outlet reports that data from his cell phone shows he was present there on July 13 for an “estimated” 70 minutes.
Additionally, exclusive footage obtained by Pittsburgh PA News appears to show Crooks at the July 13 rally “an hour before he opened fire.” The video appears to show Crooks walking near a set of buildings reportedly outside the “secured perimeter of the event.”
In the clip, Crooks appears to wear a grey T-shirt and pants, the same attire he’s seen wearing in photos of him lying on the roof moments ahead of his assassination attempt.
