#Roommates, in the next few days if you see that your follower count is looking crazy that’s because Instagram just announced they’re cracking down on people faking the funk for the ‘gram!
In a blog post on their website, they said: “Recently, we’ve seen accounts use third-party apps to artificially grow their audience.Every day people come to Instagram to have real experiences, including genuine interactions. It is our responsibility to ensure these experiences aren’t disrupted by inauthentic activity.”
They also added: “Starting today, we will begin removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity.” Instagram didn’t identify which third-party apps they mentioned, but those are definitely a target.
If you’re wondering how Instagram plans to do this, the app company has apparently built a machine-learning tool to help identify accounts that have generated fake followers and activity.
So, #Roommates if you get a notification from Instagram asking you to change your password then you may be one of the people Instagram has chosen.
Safe purging everyone!
