When it comes to discussions about politics, sometimes they can get heated. Especially when it comes to the women of the ABC hit show ‘The View,’ you can guarantee people will talk about the women’s opinions! Earlier today, Sunny Hostin ruffled a few feathers following her comments while discussing Karine Jean-Pierre’s new role as White House deputy press secretary.
As we previously reported, Karine will replace Jen Psaki, making her the first openly gay person and the first Black woman to hold the position. As the hosts mentioned Jean, they discussed whether it was a conflict of interest for her to step into the role due to her relationship with CNN reporter Suzanne Malveaux. Guest co-host Lindsey Granger said, “We have to be realistic about what happens when you’re in bed with somebody, and that’s your partner or your best friend.”
That’s when there was a sudden shift in the conversation. Sunny said that Black Republicans are an “oxymoron.” Lindsey pointed to Sunny’s co-host Ana Navarro, who is Nicaraguan-American stating, “You feel like it’s an oxymoron? Why? Your friend right here is a Republican.” Sunny was unbothered and stood firm on her stance, responding that she didn’t understand them. She wasn’t done there. The journalist said she doesn’t understand how Black or Latino people can affiliate themselves with the Republican Party.
As Sunny’s name trended, many people shared their two cents about the subject, and you know the Roommates had something to say! One commented, “I understand what she’s saying. Neither party is doing much for us, though. I wish there were more exposure and support for independent parties.” Another Roommate commented, “Facts. Wealthy Blacks forget their own people’s struggles and support the opposing side.” What’s your opinion on Sunny’s comments? Drop a comment and let us know!
