After months of speculation, ‘The Real’ has officially been canceled after eight seasons, according to Variety.
Loni Love confirmed the cancellation and stated “COVID killed the show.” She tweeted, “In the end The Real cast & crew did everything we could to scale the show down..We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio, but in my opinion Covid costs killed this show.. it’s been a great ride and thanks to the viewers for 8 great seasons!”
Over the years, the show has seen a switch-up in its panel of hosts. Throughout all seasons, Loni, Adrienne Bailon, and Jeannie Mai have remained hosts. After Tamar Braxton, who was one of the original co-hosts on the show, was terminated, the ladies were joined by Amanda Seales. After Amanda’s departure, Tamera Mowry, who was also an original host, left the show. In 2020, actress Garcelle Beauvais joined the show as a co-host.
Nick Cannon’s self-titled show was also canceled. Stating it was “a dream come true,” he also stated, “It’s interesting. This is show business, and the biggest word is ‘business.’ I show up every day, bright and early, to give you a show, and I am also a businessman.”
Roomies, what do you think of this?
