Roommates, the wait for the rebooted version of ‘The Proud Family’ is finally over—and in addition to some new characters, there is also an updated take on the show’s classic theme song. As ‘The Proud Family’ officially dropped on the Disney+ streaming service, fans noticed that the original theme song they grew up with has changed.
When it was initially announced that popular Disney animated series ‘The Proud Family’ was set to get the reboot treatment and return with the original cast, fans couldn’t contain their excitement and now they can finally stream it for themselves. However, while fans will definitely find the classic characters familiar, the equally beloved theme song is a little bit different than audiences remember.
The original theme song, of course, was performed by Solange Knowles and Destiny’s Child—but the new reworked version is sung by upcoming artist Joyce Wrice. The initial reaction to the new theme song has not been positive, as many unimpressed fans were not happy that the previous theme was no longer included. The reaction to ‘The Proud Family’ reboot overall though has been pretty positive, with fans expressing it took them right back to their childhoods.
As we previously reported, this season ‘The Proud Family’ is introducing a host of new characters courtesy of some of your favorite celebrities. KeKe Palmer, Billy Porter, Lizzo, Normani, Chance The Rapper, Tiffany Haddish and Lil Nas X are just a few of the A-list celebrities who will lend their vocal talents to the reboot.
They join returning cast members Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, Jo Marie Payton and Cedric The Entertainer. You can watch ‘The Proud Family’ reboot streaming now on Disney+.
