The Phoenix Suns Reveal New Court Decal In Support Of Brittney Griner

As people continue to scream #FreeBrittneyGriner, the Phoenix Suns are showing their support for the WNBA star.

On Tuesday, the team unveiled a new decal that was placed on their court in support of Brittney. The design is the same logo that was placed on the Phoenix Mercury’s court last week as they also showed their support for their teammate. The logo is of Brittney’s initials, and also her jersey number, 42.

Ahead of their playoff game against the Dallas Mavericks, the Suns shared photos and videos on social media and said, “Honoring Brittney Griner on our court for the remainder of the playoffs.”

At the moment, it is not clear when Brittney will return to the states. As previously reported, last week the Biden administration announced that Brittney was wrongfully detained in Russia back in February. Their announcement meant that officials would now move more vigorously when it comes to getting her released from Russian authorities. She was previously scheduled to remain detained in Russia up until at May 16th. No updates on her release have yet been announced.

Last week, Nneka Ogwumike, Los Angeles Sparks forward, and president of the WNBA players’ union, released a statement in response to Brittney’s case, and said, “It has been 75 days that our friend, teammate, sister, Brittney Griner, has been wrongfully detained in Russia. It is time for her to come home. Having learned that the U.S. government has now determined that BG is being wrongfully detained we are hopeful that their efforts will be significant, swift and successful.”
