The Mother Of Rapper Goonew Speaks Out Following Viral Homegoing Celebration: “That’s How He Wanted To Go Out”

The family of deceased DMV rapper Goonew is speaking out after his homegoing celebration at Washington, D.C.’s Bliss Nightclub went viral. In an interview with Fox 5 DC, Goonew’s mother, Patrice Parker Morrow, says that she should be able to grieve how she wants. She explained this is how they wanted to celebrate the late rapper, born Markelle Morrow, and doesn’t understand the controversy.

“That’s how he wanted to go out. We wanted to celebrate his life, turning up having a party.” She also shared a message for the haters online. “For all the negatives, people probably don’t even know nothing about us,” she said. “They have no idea. People are just saying what they want to say, and that’s fine. That’s perfectly fine. I’m pleased with how I sent my son away. I wish people would just let me grieve in peace.”

Despite the negativity, Goonew’s family has no regrets about the celebration. One of his sisters, Ariana Morrow, also spoke to Fox, stating, “We’re not trying to clear anything up. We don’t care about anybody and what ya’ll have to say negatively. Nobody. We don’t care. Ariana added, “They’re like, I know his mama wouldn’t approve of that. Yeah, she did, she was on stage with us.”

As we reported, Goonew’s embalmed body was propped up on Bliss Nightclub’s stage wearing designer clothing. Including an Amiri sweatshirt, jeans, sneakers, and a crown on his head. Rapper T.I. stepped into The Shade Room, commenting on the family’s response. “If him & his mama aight wit it what business is it of ours. He was obviously a stand-up guy,” he wrote.
