Model, #GigiHadid has been dating #OneDirection’s #ZaynMalik for almost a year now, so you’d think she knew what his ethnicity was, right? Well, in an interview with Gulf News, she mistakenly called her man “Middle Eastern,” but by then the damage was already done. Hadid, who is half Palestinian, spoke to the publication about how she loves meeting fellow Arabs while traveling and how she felt a connection with her boyfriend Zayn.
“My boyfriend is also half-Middle Eastern,” she said. “It’s just a connection that you make that’s really cool,’ she said. ‘It’s hard to explain, but you feel like you’re amongst [your] people.” The only thing is Zayn Malik is not Middle Eastern. He is actually half Pakistani which is apart of South East Asia!
Gulf News still released the interview, but Twitter got a hold of it and decided to give Miss Gigi a history lesson! Twitter user ‘@ShadowhuntZarry’ tweeted the model, “@GiGiHadid just to let you know Zayn is Pakistani, which is in South Asia. Just in case you didn’t read his profile properly before signing.”
