The FDA Approves Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine For Emergency Use (Update)

The Food and Drug Administration has officially approved Pfizer and BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine for emergency use, CNBC reports. The journey to vaccine development has not been easy, as the coronavirus has taken almost 300,000 lives over the past 9 months.

FDA Chief Scientist Denise Hinton told Pfizer that she was authorizing the emergency use of its vaccine, and Donald Trump called it a “medical miracle” in an address to the nation.

“We’ve delivered a safe and effective vaccine in just nine months,” he said. “This is one of the greatest scientific accomplishments in history. It will save millions of lives and soon end the pandemic once and for all.”

Donnie is sure to thank all of those involved in developing the vaccines, and says that they are “very safe”.

“These vaccines are also very safe,” he said. “American citizens participated in clinical trials that were far larger than normal, and has no serious side effects. The dedicated and independent experts at the FDA meticulously studied the results of the trials and it has now passed the Gold standard of safety.”

While politicians and scientists have been pushing the safety of the vaccine, studies and polls show the many Americans are still very skeptical to take them. Black Americans, specifically, has shown to have the least interest in getting vaccinated for the virus and Dr. Anthony Fauci has been trying to restore faith in the Black community recently.

As we previously reported, he addressed his “African-American brothers and sisters” while doing an interview with the National Urban League. In an attempt to reassure people that the vaccine is safe, he says Kizzmekia Corbett, a Black scientist, is one of the lead developers of the vaccine.
