Roommates, the family of 29-year-old Asia Maynard is seeking answers as they claim authorities are doing little following her death last Friday. The Kansas City native recently passed away after she went on a date with a white man she met recently. According to Fox4kc, reports state Asia passed away from natural causes, and Kansas City police and the medical examiner told the family they do not believe there was foul play. However, Asia’s mother, Denise Maynard, disagrees.
“She’s only 29. You’re not dying of natural causes at 29,” stated Denise. Tera Maynard, Asia’s sister, spoke to fox4kc and explained she reported her sister missing after she didn’t see or hear from Asia after Friday.
“She called me Friday at 10:30 or 11 o’clock and said, hey, I met a new friend. I’m going on a date. I’ll come by tomorrow,” Tera said. “After Friday, she never called. She never showed up, and that’s not like her. So, another day goes by. I said something was not right. It’s not sitting right with my spirit.”
When Tera spoke with authorities on Saturday, they were already aware of Asia’s death but never contacted her family. “When she got to the funeral home, and we viewed her body, she had blood in her eyes and her ears, and her clothes were saturated with blood,” said her mother. Her mother also believes KCPD is rushing the investigation. Reports do not list the unidentified man’s name, and he isn’t listed as a suspect.
Asia’s death has become a topic on social media as her case sounds similar to Lauren Smith-Fields, who passed away after a Bumble date with Matthew LaFountain. Asia’s case is currently considered a death investigation and not a homicide. Roomies, we will keep you updated as more info becomes available.
