It looks like the story of the recent college admissions scandal will soon be coming to television.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Annapurna Television will be taking on the project as they have optioned the rights to the forthcoming book “Accepted,” which is about the admissions scandal written by Wall Street Journal reporters Melissa Korn and Jennifer Levitz.
The book will be adapted into a limited series by Emmy award winner D.V. DeVincentis. At the moment, there is no outlet attached to the project.
The book will detail the scandal, which involved 50 people, including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, being indicted for influencing the admissions of their children at well-known universities. College officials and coaches were also indicted in the scandal.
The scandal included them rigging exams and paying large amounts of money to bribe the school officials so that their children would be admitted into the schools.
As we previously reported, Felicity Huffman pled guilty in the scandal and said in a statement, “I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions. I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community.”
