The BET Awards must go on!
The viral pandemic has canceled everything but the bills. But it will not cancel an event for the culture–the BET Awards.
The BET Experience usually takes place as a three-day event, in Los Angeles, California. It has now been postponed and will return in 2021, but BET will still bless the people.
In an exclusive interview with Variety, it has been confirmed that BET will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the BET Awards with a virtual BET Awards show, happening, on June 28.
“The BET Awards are a seminal event – the biggest celebration of Black culture, Black accomplishment, Black excellence, and Black potential,” said Scott Mills, president of BET. “Our community, and the many millions who love Black culture, look to the BET Awards for signature moments of enrichment, entertainment and empowerment. Recognizing the unique role the BET Awards plays for so many, and the challenging times we find ourselves in, we know it was more important than ever to deliver the BET Awards in 2020.”
The nominations won’t be revealed just yet. So, we’ll have to wait for that, Roomies.
These days, we’re bringing the fashions right to the living room, chile. With these Verzuz battles, comedy shows, DJ’s putting on the 1’s and 2’s, and Zoom parties, it appears that we are adjusting the best we know how, amid this viral pandemic.
Life, as we know it is just different these days. Hopefully we’ll get back to celebrating this type of event, in a traditional way, sooner rather than later. But, at least, BET is giving us something to look forward to.
