Whew! Roommates, the Chris Brown versus Michael Jackson debate comes around every year. This year, Tank is the one riling up social media users after saying Chris is “better” than Michael during a conversation with Stephen A. Smith.
Chris Brown has been wowing fans since he was 15 years old. From the jump of his career, his stage presence and performance abilities, particularly his dance moves, have been compared to the late Michael Jackson.
Tank’s comment came after Stephen asked the singer to recall a comment he made that “almost” gave Smith “a heart attack.”
“What I said was, you know, I think that if we’re saying numbers don’t lie, me and my brother… said LeBron is the goat. But that’s all I said,” Tank replied.
Stephen appeared gagged repeatedly, saying, “LeBron,” before pointedly asking Tank, “What did you say about Chris Brown compared to Michael Jackson?”
“Chris Brown is, in fact, better than Michael Jackson,” Tank said, as Smith questioned if he “understands” what he’s saying.
Smith agreed that Chris is the “greatest entertainer on the planet” and “special.” However, he strongly disagreed with the “better” than MJ remark and stumbled through the late singer’s accolades, including his best-selling album of all time, ‘Thriller.’
“Things evolve, my brother, things evolve, ” Tank responded. “If we’re equating it to sports as we love to do if there was Magic Johnson, now there’s LeBron James. That is the ultimate evolution of a man who can play all five positions and fill up that stat sheet, honestly, organically. Now as we talk about Chris Brown, we’re talking about the evolution of Michael Jackson, the evolution of Usher, the evolution of me, the evolution of Ginuwine.”

After Stephen Smith posted a clip of their conversation to his Instagram account, Tank jumped into the comment section to affirm his stance.
“Vocal ability: MJ < CB Writing ability: MJ < CB Producing ability: MJ < CB Dancing ability: MJ < CB,” Tank wrote. “I know you’re going to say MJ’s catalog is crazy, songs are classic, etc but that was because of a LOT Of great people involved who were some of the greatest at what they do. CB orchestrates his own movement from studio, to visual, to show! No handouts, no sponsors, and all while the world was against him! I’m ready to argue!!”
Chris Brown reacted to Tank going to bat for him by reposting the viral clip to his Instagram Stories with a sad face emoticon.
Additionally, the singer has previously slammed similar comments, calling them “cap” while speaking on BigBoyTV and denying that he feels like the “new” Michael Jackson to N.O.R.E. on ‘Drink Champs.’

As mentioned, though, X (formerly Twitter) is in shambles over the Chris and Michael comparison conversation. Some agree with Tank, while others side with Stephen’s take and what Chris Brown has previously said.
