Stimulus checks are the talk of the interwebs, and people are not playing ‘bout their coins! While many are rejoicing, others are stressed because they have yet to receive the check that’s said to offer a bit of security during this pandemic. It looks like a few people in Tallahassee, FL are having a hard time getting their money, even though the IRS says it’s been deposited.
According to WCTV, on Wednesday, a crowd of people showed up to Galaxy and Tax Refunds claiming that they have received their stimulus checks, but the checks were allegedly deposited into the tax preparer’s account.
“Customers say they filed 2019 taxes with Galaxy and tax refunds were routed to the tax service account, which then sent out the checks. So when the stimulus payments were paid, they went to Galaxy as well.”
One customer stated,
“It says it’s deposited into the account,” said Anecia Ash. “People want their money. People have kids, people have different stuff that they need to handle. People are angry; they want their money and they’re saying he has nothing to do with it.”
The owner of the company stated that the account listed on the customers’ documents is not associated with the tax company.
The Tallahassee Police Department stated that this could be a federal case, since this involved the IRS, according to WCTV.
The stimulus package is said to help Americans who may have suffered hardship during this time.
“No economic policy can fully end the hardship so long as the public health requires that we put so much of our commerce on ice,” McConnell said in a speech on the Senate floor on Wednesday. “This isn’t even a stimulus package. It is emergency relief. Emergency relief. That’s what this is.”
Some Americans received their checks last weekend, according to reports.
