Taco Bell was hit with a $5 million class-action lawsuit earlier this week, and the situation is over alleged skimping and false advertising.

It All Started With A $5.49 Mexican Pizza
According to Reuters, a man named Frank Siragusa filed the lawsuit in Brooklyn on Monday (Jul. 31). Siragusa notes that, back in Sept. 2022, he purchased a Mexican Pizza for $5.49 in New York City, though he noticed that something wasn’t right.
Specifically, he believed that the Mexican Pizza had significantly less meat than advertised, and he ultimately sued the fast food company.
Within his complaint, Siragusa accuses Taco Bell of inflating the amount of meat in ads for its Mexican Pizza, Crunchwrap Supreme, and Grande Crunchwrap food items. The Veggie Mexican Pizza and Vegan Crunchwrap were also dragged into the situation.
The lawsuit declares that these specific products are falsely advertised as having “at least double the amount” of filling. Oop — not there being beef over ground beef!
Ultimately, the situation was slammed as being “unfair and financially damaging to consumers.”
The lawsuit also points out how the matter worsens, considering that “inflation, food, and meat prices are very high and many consumers, especially lower-income consumers, are struggling financially.”
Lawyer Says Taco Bells Fails To “Adequately Disclose The Weight” Of Beef Filling
In an email, Reuters reports that one of Siragusa’s lawyers — Anthony Russo — emphasized the fact that “Taco Bell does not adequately disclose the weight of the beef or filling.”
“Plaintiff did not make any purchases of the product based on any weight disclosure but solely based on the picture of the product, as we believe most consumers do.”
To rectify the alleged wrongdoing, the lawsuit seeks $5 million. This would be shared between Taco Bell customers who purchased the items in New York State establishments since 2020.
Roomies, what do you think of the situation, and would you sue over a fast food item looking kinda skimpy?
