T-Pain has been in the news heavy lately, following the widespread reports that his since-cancelled tour was put on hold indefinitely due to low ticket sales. He followed that up with slamming the media for reporting on his “life’s lows”—and now he is taking aim at anyone claiming that there is a new T-Pain.
Just last week, many fans found out that T-Pain had to cancel his tour because ticket sales were at an all-time low and there was a mishandling on management’s end. After thanking fans for their support after the tour news broke, he quickly added that the media didn’t give him the coverage and support he’s getting now because they love to see celebrities fall. Now, he is making it clear that no one is coming for his spot in the music industry.
In a Twitter post seemingly out of the blue, T-Pain sub-tweeted anyone that claims to be the next him, writing:
“Bro. Just because somebody has 2 songs YOU like does NOT mean they are “tHe NeW tPaIn”. I been doing this s**t for way too long and done saved too many other artists careers and done had too many #1 records for a ni**a wit a hot single to be the new me. Chill bro.”
Curious social media investigators think that the tweet seems to be in reference to a viral tweet from earlier this week regarding indie artist Smino. After someone tweeted Smino that he’s the “new T-Pain,” Smino reminded them that T-Pain is this generation’s T-Pain and that won’t change.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
