T.I. has been named as one of the honorees for the 32nd Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.
On Monday, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) announced they will be hosting their annual award show next month and T.I. will be honored with their first ever “Voice of the Culture” Award. The new honor was created “to celebrate ASCAP songwriters and artists who have had a major influence on music and culture.”
ASCAP Chairman of the Board and President Paul Williams, said, “T.I. has conquered the worlds of music, TV, and film, helping to popularize a new sub-genre of music in the process. His significant contributions to hip-hop music, support for other artists through his record label, philanthropy, community activism, and memorable onscreen roles have had a profound impact on today’s music and culture. There is no one more deserving to receive the inaugural ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award.”
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Motown Records was also announced as an honoree. The legendary record label will be honored with the “ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award.” Past recipients include Chaka Khan, Bill Withers, Earth Wind & Fire, Rick James, and many other legends.
The 32nd Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards go down on June 20th in Los Angeles.
Congrats to all the honorees!
