Yesterday T.I. stopped by Ebro in the Morning at Hot 97, to talk about the latest with his music, as he recently dropped a new EP. In the midst of the conversation, things kind of switched up, as Iggy Azalea became a topic of discussion.
After talking about a new group he is currently working with alongside Pharrell Williams, Tip was asked if he was still working with Iggy Azalea and he simply responded with, “sure.”
He then went into deeper explanation as to why he decided to part ways with the Australian rapper. It’s no secret that late last year, and even earlier this year, Iggy was catching the heat for her involvement in hip hop. She continually won the majority of the hip hop awards at multiple award shows for her song “Fancy” and that made everyone and their momma upset.
Even with their demised relationship, T.I. still came to her rescue regarding some situations. “In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time. Any human being anywhere gon’ have a hard time adjusting.” He continued, “It came at a time where culturally in this nation, which she’s not from here, we were actually looking for a source to place some penned up aggression.”
He then revealed that after Q-Tip schooled her via Twitter on the culture of hip hop back in December, she only seemed to make matters worse. He described the situation, “After I kind of had smoothed it over and was like okay well what’s really meant to be said here is…everything was cool and it kind of came back and undid everything I just did. ”I’m gon’ block the bullets. When I say go, GO! Don’t just stand around and talk while I’m blocking bullets, you slowing me down.”
Later on in the interview he was asked about the progression on the filming of ATL 2. Earlier this year social media was blowing up with photos of the cast coming back together to shoot the sequel to the classic film. However, since then things have been pretty much quiet regarding that situation.
T.I. went on to reveal that he was actually the moving force to unite the entire cast and directors to get everything going after 9 ½ years. Unfortunately things began to slow down once it came to the executive producers.
He closed the topic with saying, “I’m still down to do it, but I don’t think no one else can get it done like I was still getting it done. I got the money, I got the cast, I got the director, I got all that. There’s too many cooks in the kitchen, they would rather see it do nothing then to see someone else do it that’s not them.”
