SZA Honored At Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

On Thursday (June 13), the ‘Snooze’ singer was honored with the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame 2024 Induction and Awards Gala. The event was held at the Marquis Hotel in New York.

According to PEOPLE, the Grammy Award-winning songstress stated in her acceptance speech that honor validates every aspect of her career.

“I’m just so grateful. Thank you for seeing me. I swear, I’ll be like, ‘Oh I wrote this and I wrote that. And people would be like, ‘OK,’ especially if you’re a woman, especially if you’re a Black woman. So to win this… It just means the world.”

The outlet also reported that following her speech, SZA performed an acoustic rendition of her hit single, ‘Snooze.’ The event showcased performances and presentations by additional stars, including Missy Elliott, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Jason Isbell.

SZA joins esteemed past recipients of the Hal David Starlight Award, such as Lil Nas X, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Ed Sheeran.

The ‘Broken Clocks’ musician will have the chance to expand her trophy collection at the 2024 BET Awards on June 30, where she’s a five-time nominee, including for her feature on Drake’s ‘Rich Baby Daddy.’
