Back in June, it was revealed that music executive Chaka Zulu was one of three men that were shot during a triple shooting in Atlanta. Last week, Zulu was arrested on a murder charge, and shortly after, his legal counsel released a statement saying that he acted in self-defense. Now footage shows what unfolded the night of the incident.
In video footage obtained by TMZ, it shows that a group of men, including Artez Benton, who was fatally shot during the incident, arrived at Zulu’s restaurant Apt4B, and parked in the valet area, and headed inside. A few minutes later they end up back in the parking area where some kind of dispute unfolded between Zulu and a man named Tre’mon Robinson.
While that dispute occurred, another man named Corey Crawford is seen retrieving something from one of the vehicles in the parking lot. A source connected to Zulu’s legal team told TMZ they believed Crawford went to get a gun.
As the argument between Zulu and Robinson became heated, Robinson’s friends came over, and the group of men began jumping Zulu.
Zulu’s assistant attempted to help him, but she was unfortunately punched in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.
Once off of the ground, it appears Zulu fired his weapon first hitting Benton, and right after, it appears Crawford fired a few shots, one of those shots hitting Zulu in his back.
Zulu and Benton were two of three men that were transported to the hospital, where Benton later died from his injuries.
As previously reported, jail records show Zulu surrendered to authorities on September 13th and posted bond the same day.
Zulu’s legal counsel Gabe Banks said in a statement:
