When you watch a football game, do you think about the wives or girlfriends and children that these players have left at home just to entertain you? Of course not, but that doesn’t mean that they are unaffected by their absence!
That is why Pantene made it a point to try something new for their Super Bowl ads. They feature various fathers such as DeAngelo Williams from The Steelers and The Saints’ Benjamin Watson giving their little girls a “Dad Do” as apart of their “Strong Is Beautiful” campaign. It aims to inform viewers that spending quality time with your daughters is conducive to them becoming confident young women!
Art Markman (PhD.) is a psychology professor at the University of Texas and further explains the role fathers play in providing “an important early example” of how men should treat their girls as well as how they should interact with each other. “Girls also look to their fathers to get a sense of what is appropriate for men to do,” he said. “When a father supports his daughter’s education and aspirations, whatever they may be, that helps to make it clear that other men who may not be so supportive in the future are doing something wrong.”
It’s awesome that Pantene thought to highlight fatherhood on a day dedicated to football!
