Summer Walker surprised her Instagram followers with a new ‘do at the top of Black History Month! The singer switched out her typical long, loc’ed tresses for a shaved head, high ponytail combo. Within hours, Summer had the whole innanet in a chokehold, but the photo didn’t live on her profile very long. Nearly two weeks later, she took time to clear the room on why she removed the viral images.
“People are so funny y’all really thought y’all hateful comments had an effect on me? I took my shaved style pic down from IG cause my religion doesn’t allow me to show my head,” Summer wrote on the story of her primary account (@summerwalker)
The star continued, saying she “got in trouble” for posting the image. However, she didn’t specify the religion she practices or the extent of trouble she faced. She also explained that she put her wig on to “finish a video shoot,” not because of any dissatisfaction with her new statement hair.
“Y’all think [too] highly of yourselves. Y’all weak as* opinions matter to NO ONE, a lot of y’all have as much significance in the world as an ant in the dirt,” Summer wrote. “No one even knows y’all are alive lol I was FINE ASF.”
As previously reported, Summer shared multiple, front and side-facing selfies of her look to her secondary account @glctawhre. At the time, she wrote in the caption that she “legit wanted this hair style my whole life.” The new style gives onlookers a clear view of Summer’s popping skin and prominent face tattoos such as her boyfriend’s name Larry near the side of her eye.
The photo received an incredible amount of attention. When posted to The Shade Room, the post generated over 66,000 comments and more than 390,000 likes.
