Students Of Florida Are Calling For Justice After Video Of Deputies Using Excessive Force On Teens Surfaces Online

#Roommates, people of the Coral Springs, Florida community are coming together to fight what they have deemed an act of police brutality.

According to @wsvn, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance outside a local McDonald’s just before 3pm on Thursday.

Disturbing cellphone footage of several arrests shows the deputies throwing two teenage boys to the ground, slamming one of their heads against the pavement, and punching him on the side of his head. One deputy can even be seen pepper spraying a teen in the video.

“What are you doing?! He’s bleeding!” students yelled in the video.

One witness told wsvn that deputies went way too far and abused their authority.

“Is that a fair way to treat a 13, 14-year-old, however old he may be? That’s a grown man,” Jordan Payne said. “You can’t treat a little kid like that. Come on now. Punching him while he’s on the floor? At that point, you already had him detained. Why go further?”

Officials said the two teens have been taken into custody and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.

A third person was sent to Broward Health Coral Springs for evaluation after being pepper sprayed by one of the deputies.

It is still unclear what disturbance the deputies had responded to or what led to the arrests, but we are keeping the teens in our thoughts at this time.
