The Texas middle school student who went viral last Wednesday for striking a substitute teacher with a chair inside a classroom has broken his silence and apologized. On Instagram, the Desoto teen, Torrin, addressed a tweet from rapper Cardi talking about his behavior. He also shared his side of the story. At the same time, he opened up about suffering from bipolar disorder and ADHD.
Torrin wrote, “Hello, my name is Torrin. Before any more negative comments come out upon this post, hear me out. I’m not going to state what happen because of multiple reasons. I respect the school and district. But I will say, I Torrin wouldn’t throw a chair at anybody for no reason!”
He continued, “I knew much better not to do it. Please understand me carefully. I’ve suffered from bipolar disorder and ADHD. At the moment of the situation, I tried walking away. I got alerted by students or, as I say my peers, that the sub stated something rude about my mother. I then displayed the action only because of built-up anger. I knew I could’ve controlled it.”
As Torrin’s explanation continued, he acknowledged his actions as a student/minor were unacceptable and touched on how he cared about Mr. Larry Brumfield. As we reported, the teacher was treated by paramedics for injuries sustained by the incident. In Torrin’s apology seems as if there were previous issues between the two. Ending the statement, he also apologized to the students and the DeSoto Independent School District.
At this time, it is unclear if Torrin will face any charges, but he stated that he is ready to accept every consequence that comes his way.
