‘Straight Outta Compton’ Lawsuit May Not Proceed Following The Death Of Jerry Heller

Last month, Jerry Heller, the former manager of N.W.A. unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack.

At the time of his death, his lawsuit against producers and others involved with the 2015 film, “Straight Outta Compton,” was still standing. However, since his passing it looks like the lawsuit may come to an end.

According to Billboard, in a Monday court filing it was revealed that without the plaintiff the lawsuit might not proceed.

After the release of the biopic, Heller sued the producers and others involved with the film for defaming his character. Most of his complaints had been thrown out, with the exception of the complaint of Heller “exploiting an unsophisticated young artist by discouraging him from hiring a lawyer during contract negotiations.”

Heller’s attorney is currently looking for a successor-in-interest for the case to proceed.

Back in August Heller was expected to testify, but his defense team cancelled the day before claiming, “unspecified conflict of interest that would disqualify them from continuing to represent the defendants in this case.”

However the defense counsel asked that the case move forward, unfortunately Heller passed before the case could proceed.

Roommates what are your thoughts?
