Y’all may remember when former NBA player, Stephon Marbury, released his $15 sneaker line “Starbury” back in 2006. The shoes were marketed towards families who couldn’t afford shoes like Nike or Jordans.
Well looks like Marbury is back in the game and ready for a sneaker relaunch.
Marbury shared some of his upcoming sneaker designs on his Instagram. He also revealed on Twitter that his $15 shoes are made in the same factory as Jordans and Nike, which can run about $200. Marbury mentioned that he was disappointed in Jordan charging high prices for his sneakers.
He had a lot to say on Twitter, labeling Jordan greedy and saying his shoes are “robbing the hood” of money and sparking violence.
He went on to mention that his line is not about competing with Jordans or Nike, but providing affordable priced shoes.
Of course nothing comes without criticism, many people responded to Marbury’s announcement by questioning the quality and design of the shoe line.
