Gabrielle Union recently shared a video that highlights how she utilizes positive affirmations to promote self-love and confidence in her 4-year-old daughter, Kaavia!
Gabrielle Union & Kaavia Come Thru With The Affirmations
On Monday evening, the actress made an Instagram post of her and her young daughter situating themselves in front of a mirror.
Union then tells Kaavia, “Tell me what you love about your hair.” In turn, the 4-year-old responds, “Okay. I love my beautiful hair.”
The mother-daughter duo then go back-and-forth with positive affirmations that promote an appreciation of their “full lips,” “beautiful skin,” and eyes.
In addition to teaching Kaavia to love and appreciate her features, Gabrielle also highlights that she should appreciate her intelligence, sense of humor, silliness, and courage. However, she was sure to also tell her daughter that it’s alright to be “scared sometimes.”
After Gabrielle Union had Kaavia acknowledge that she is “worthy,” the 4-year-old wrapped the affirmations exercise by declaring, “I’m so beautiful!”
We should also point out that Union’s video was captioned, “It starts at home.”
Zaya Wade Previously Acknowledged What Gabrielle Taught Her About Self-Love
While On the subject, we should note that Gabrielle Union’s step-daughter, Zaya Wade, recently addressed a major life lesson that she learned from her.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Zaya’s commentary came during a recent sit-down with Dazed, and she shared that Gabrielle actively taught her that beauty comes from within.
“The lesson has changed over time, but more recently it’s that beauty is in yourself. It’s about being you and expressing yourself the way you want to.”

Zaya went on to add that the Bring It On star also taught her that “beauty standards are arbitrary” and “don’t mean anything.” Additionally, Gabrielle Union made it a point to teach Zaya that “being [herself] is the best technique out there.”
“She tries to teach me that beauty standards are arbitrary and that they don’t mean anything. They don’t matter any more; what people thought was the standard is not. And just that being myself is the best technique out there.”
