St. Petersburg Officials Revoke ‘Sky Addict Aviation’ Lease After 50 Cent’s Super Bowl Party–Gives Them 180 Days To Leave (Update)

Life comes at you quick, and St. Petersburg isn’t playing about COVID-19 restrictions! Last weekend 50 Cent threw a huge Super Bowl party in an airplane hangar at Albert Whitted Airport that seemingly cost the venue their lease. According to reports from  Tampa Bay Times, it was announced yesterday that ‘Sky Addict Aviation’ now has six months to pack up their belongings and leave the building.

The party violated several COVID-19 safety protocols, so St. Petersburg city officials have terminated Sky Addict Aviation’s lease. The company had just renewed its five-year term in December for the 3,000 square foot hangar and office space. Alfred Wendler, the city’s Director of Real Estate and Property Management, cited a provision in the lease that allows for termination without cause in the termination letter. The letter gives Sky Addict Aviation 180 days advance notice.

If you recall, St. Petersburg’s Mayor Rick Kriseman spoke out against the party on Twitter. He shared a photo of the party from TMZ and tweeted, “This isn’t how we should be celebrating the Super Bowl. It’s not safe or smart. It’s stupid. We’re going to take a very close look at this, and it may end up costing someone a lot more than 50 Cent.”

Mayor Kriseman’s spokesman Ben Kirby spoke out regarding Sky Addict Aviation’s lease being terminated. “The mayor decided to terminate the lease because hosting a concert is outside the scope of what the hangar space is supposed to be used for,” said Ben. “Sky Addict also failed to file a COVID-19 safety plan, required by the city for events larger than 250 people. That rule went into effect on Feb. 1st.”

However, Ben said city officials don’t know the total amount of people who were in attendance. Sky Addict’s registered agent and manager Abraham Tray declined to comment.
