Roommates, we are sending our prayers to the family of St. Louis rapper Huey following reports of him being fatally shot.
According to Fox 2 Now, he was shot and killed Thursday night just before midnight in St. Louis in the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Maple Avenue in Kinloch.
Details about the shooting are at a minimum during this time, but many people remember Huey, whose real name is Lawrence Franks Jr., from his 2006 hit song “Pop Lock And Drop It.”
During the investigation, authorities determined that another person was shot during the shooting. The victim arrived at the Ferguson Police Department with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries and he is expected to survive.
Huey, 32, leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter.
Fans took to social media to express their condolences as news about Huey’s passing started to make its rounds on social media.
One person said, “I’m so sad. In 9th grade, my friends would practice “Pop, Lock & Drop It” in front of my living room mirror so we were prepared and ready for school dances. Huey’s song caused so many happy memories.”
Roommates let’s keep his family lifted in prayer during this difficult time.
