TSR Glowups: Anybody who lives that “balling on a budget” lifestyle knows all about SpiritAirlines. It ain’t the prettiest way to travel, but it will get you from Point A to Point B for the low.
Well, Spirit Airlines travelers should no longer be ashamed as their planes are getting a major upgrade.
Just like your Facebook friend who swears she’s not taking back her cheating boyfriend, Spirit is basically saying “new year, new me” come 2020. Spirit unveiled its new redesigned cabins today with ergonomically-designed seats for more comfort and 2 extra inches of “useable” legroom, USA Today reports.
Spirit’s new cabins also will feature larger tray tables instead of those mini ones, new carpet, pre-reclined seats and more for an improved aesthetic and modern design.
“This is just the start of all the great things to come in 2020!” Spirit Airlines wrote on Instagram.
The new features, which were announced in September, were installed on a new Airbus A320neo and will eventually be featured on new and existing Spirit planes.
Spirit Airlines said the upgrades are part of its “Invest in the Guest” program. Other new features Spirit says are on the way: Wi-Fi and self bag check.
Spirit says the new composite seats are padded with ultra lightweight foam and come with extra pre-recline as passengers currently can’t recline their own seats on Spirit.
“We listened to our guests and went on the hunt for the optimal Spirit seat,” Spirit CEO Ted Christie said in a statement. “Our new seats and cabin redesign were developed from the ground up to enhance the experience, while maintaining our low fares at the same time.”
