Early Monday, Rich The Kid made headlines after he was arrested for attempting to go inside the SLS Hotel in South Beach, Miami, while police were responding to a bomb threat at the hotel. More details about why the rapper was on the premises have been revealed.
A source connected to the “New Freezer” rapper told The Shade Room that Rich was scheduled to perform at Hyde Beach nightclub, which is located inside the hotel. He had plans to meet with the promoter of the event to collect payment for his scheduled performance. Other big names that were advertised for the event were A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and NLE Choppa. The source says Rich was meeting the promoter at the front of the building when he was arrested.
As previously reported, police closed off the perimeter of the hotel as they conducted their investigation. Rich was told he could not go inside until the investigation was concluded. According to TMZ, police claim he told them he would “bond out in 20 minutes” after he was warned that he would be arrested. He has since been released from jail, and the source added that Rich’s team was able to retrieve the remainder of his money from the promoter.
Rich took to social media to share a video and photo of himself to show he was released from custody.
Over the weekend, he was spotted at various events in Miami for Art Basel.
