By now, ya’ll know Soulja Boy likes to let it be known he was the first rapper to do a lot of things, and certain things wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for him. Now it looks we can add TikTok to the list because according to him he had a hand in the app’s popularity.
Soulja was the latest guest to join Raquel Harper on her podcast “It’s Tricky With Raquel Harper,” and they talked about various topics. When asked what artist he would like to work with that he hasn’t worked with before, Soulja instantly said Jay-Z.
He said, “What’s going on Jay-Z? You don’t like to rap with the trenches? Wassup I’m from the trenches, I need that Roc Nation verse man, you trippin’. I got Beyoncé doing the ‘Crank That Soulja Boy.”
Raquel then asked how did having Beyoncé do his dance change the game and he said, “I created TikTok. It wouldn’t be no TikTok if it weren’t for Soulja Boy.” When asked what about TikTok’s owner, Soulja said, “What about him? He heard ‘Crank That Soulja Boy,’ too, he seen the video too.”
He then got serious for a moment and said that he really likes TikTok, and spoke about his record “She Make It Clap,” which was a viral sound on the app. That contributed to the song’s success, and there was a dance created to the song, and eventually, it became a challenge, and the success of the song on the app allowed him to get a new record deal, while it also climbed the charts.
Outside of having social media success, Soulja has a lot to be happy about nowadays. As we previously reported, recently he revealed that he has a son on the way, and he shared the moment he learned about his baby’s gender.
