Celebrity biopics have continuously proven to be huge hits at the box-office—and Kirk Franklin is hoping to be next in line to captivate audiences with his life story. According to @Deadline, the currently untitled project will be produced by Devon Franklin, who has an impressive string of faith-based films under his belt already.
The as-yet-untitled project is reported to take a dive deep into Kirk’s life before he became one of the most iconic and beloved figures in the world of modern gospel music.
The synopsis of the film reads:
“The film will follow the 14-time Grammy-winning artist from his humble beginning through his meteoric rise to fame as he changes the face of gospel music and battles his demons in the process.”
The film definitely has a lot of material to pull from, including Kirk’s history-making 1993 debut album which was the first in gospel history to sell 1 million copies. Additionally, with his latest album, Long Live Love, he is the first artist to land on top of all five of Billboard’s gospel charts.
