The past few days have been shocking news as many more celebrity deaths are being announced as the year begins to come to an end.
Most recently the deaths of George Michael and Carrie Fisher have been announced. Now fans are trying to make sure that actress Betty White makes it to see 2017.
According to Time, a user named Demetrios Hrysikos from South Carolina started a fundraiser on GoFundMe to “protect” the 94-year-old actress from 2016.
The page’s description reads, “Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White! If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan 1 , 2017.”
However, those who have donated to the page are actually contributing to a great cause. The description continues to read, “Now, assuming she doesn’t want a strange Greek standing gaurd outside her door all monies will be donated to the Spartanburg little theater to help craft new stars of stage and screen to carry mantle of the legends that have left is this year.”
The original goal for the page was $2,000, and as of Wednesday a little over $2,400 has been donated.

We are sure Betty White is just fine, and we wish her many more years. She will be celebrating her 95th birthday on January 17, 2017.
