It looks like Miya Ponsetto a.k.a #SoHoKaren was released today after she was taken back to New York City to face a judge after she accused Keyon Harrold Jr. of taking her phone at a New York City hotel late last month.
According to the New York Post, hours after she was taken back to New York City from California she made her first appearance in court for attempted robbery and attempted assault charges for allegedly attacking the 14-year-old teen, and then was sprung on supervised release.
Before getting released, she was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child and grand larceny in the fourth degree and was ordered to stay away from the teen and his family. She’s scheduled to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on March 29th. She did not enter a plea during the proceeding.
Prosecutors said prior to the incident with Keyon, Miya is suspected of having damaged an apartment door in the East Village.
As previously reported, earlier this week, Miya was arrested in California after authorities had been looking for her after she accused Keyon of stealing her phone. It was later learned that he had not taken her phone, and footage from inside the hotel led to the assumption that Miya also assaulted the teen during the altercation.
Prior to being arrested, she did an interview with Gayle King where she admitted that she could have handled the situation differently while still trying to defend her actions. After the December incident, Miya ended up back in her home state of California as authorities tried to locate her. Her arrest was a collaborative effort between the NYPD and Ventura County Sheriff.
Although she does not have any criminal conviction, this is not her first encounter with authorities.
