2-year old A.J. Burgess was born without kidneys and is in desperate need of one. Thankfully, his father Anthony Dickerson is a perfect match however, a recent probation violation has prevented him from possibly saving his son’s life.
Dickerson was released from prison this month, however, he was arrested shortly after for violating his parole. He was possessing a firearm “during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.”
When it came time to prepare to donate his kidney, #EmoryHospital in #Atlanta took Dickerson’s probation situation into account and decided that he needed to be on good behavior for three to four months before donating his kidney. They then told him that they’d re-evaluate him in 2018.
A.J.’s mom Carmella fears that her son may not make it, because he needs bladder surgery and his body is failing. The only other option is to place A.J. on the wait list, but that could take years!
That is why social media came together to create a petition demanding that Emory Hospital perform the transplant surgery. If you’d like to sign it you can do so below:
