Allen Iverson’s statue at the 76er’s Legends Walk was unveiled on Friday (April 12).
According to Sporting News, fans were concerned that the figure was too tiny for the NBA great.
The Philadephia 76ers honored AI at the Penn Medicine Philadelphia Training Complex, NBA.com reports. After the statue was revealed, social media began cracking jokes about its small size.
The Roommates shared their opinion under The Shade Room’s social media post.
@justinlaboy quipped, “They gave bro a trophy #Respectfully.”
“Now where’s the grown up one,” @kilenas.g added.
@c.ray.art stated, “His chain bigger than the statue.”
“Somebody gone walk past and put that jawn in they pocket,” KevinKaj_ wrote.
However, they did not realize Iverson’s statue matched the other statues honoring NBA legends. Allen’s was placed alongside Charles Barkley, Julius Erving, and Wilt Chamberlain. He was in good company.
Other social media goers understood.
@oldscoolt said, “It’s a very nice statue! People have to remember it’s NOT a stand alone statue. It’s among a long line of other Sixer greats that adorn the front of the facility and they’re ALL the same size.”
Additionally, some commentators appreciated this honor but felt he deserved more.
“I love the recognition, but let’s not forget this man [changed] the identity of basketball and put Philadelphia on a whole nother level !! Statue in front of the arena, please !!” @_wayneeeee wrote.

At the unveiling ceremony, the former NBA MVP shared his feelings about the honor, per NBA.
“This is a moment that I’ll never forget. I’ll cherish this moment for the rest of my life.”
Additionally, he addressed Philadelphia fans.
“I love these people and they love me back. They honor the fact that I gave everything I had, night in and night out. And I loved the fact that they supported me through all these years.”
Allen is an 11-time NBA All-Star and is considered one of the best scorers ever to play the game.
