SNL’s Chris Redd was punched in the face and left bloodied outside of the Comedy Cellar in Lower Manhattan, where he was scheduled to perform Wednesday night.
Police reported Redd exited his car around 9:40 p.m. when a man, who witnesses say appeared to be a security guard, charged up to him and struck him in the face, according to TMZ.

The 37-year-old comedian was bleeding profusely from his nose, and was taken to nearby Bellevue Hospital for treatment, the outlet reports. He’s since been released.
Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made as of Thursday. The suspect was described as wearing blue “security” jacket, along with black pants, white and gray sneakers and a bucket hat.
On Tuesday, Redd tweeted: “I’m in New York doing shows so pull up with y’all sexy a**es! And stream the hell out of my special Nov. 3rd on @HBOmax.”

Redd was a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” for five seasons before leaving the show last month.
Witnesses tell the outlet that Chris’ Greg Yuna chain, one of which was commissioned by Ridiculousness co-host Steelo Brim for $250K last year, was snatched amidst the assault, however the chain links fell apart on the street during the scuffle.

The suspect ultimately fled without stealing the broken chain, which was recovered by Redd, according to TMZ. Police still don’t know the exact motive for the alleged assault.
Other witnesses said authorities snapped photos of Chris’ injuries, including a deep cut on his nose.
In shocking video obtained by TMZ, people can be seen gathering around Chris to assist him, as blood spilled on the sidewalk just steps away from the Comedy Cellar.
Last month, The Shade Room reported Redd started dating former “SNL” costar Kenan Thompson’s estranged wife, Christina Evangeline.
