Hip Hop pioneer, Slick Rick, has another major milestone to celebrate today as he has officially obtained his U.S. citizenship!
TMZ caught up with the legend outside of a New York courthouse just after he was sworn in and he told them, “I am so proud of this moment — and so honored to finally become an American citizen.”
“La Di Da Di” rapper has apparently been battling immigration for some time now ever since 1990 prison stint he did for a self-defense shooting. TMZ reports, “He was eventually pardoned, but was threatened with deportation several times.”
I don’t know about you, but it definitely looks like he’s kicked deportation’s a**! He also says he’ll keep dual citizenship here in the States as well as in the U.K.
Congratulations, Slick Rick! You did it!
