Simone Biles, 26, recently dominated another gymnastics competition, and — through her years of determination and hard work — she’s now the most decorated gymnast ever!
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Simone’s feat came on the heels of her stellar performance at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
On Friday (Oct. 6), she earned her sixth all-around world title, and her accolade brought Biles to a grand total of 34 medals between her Olympic and world championship competitions, per AP News. As such, the Texas-raised athlete is now the most decorated gymnast in history.
Additionally, she also became the first woman to secure six all-around world titles, tying with Kōhei Uchimura of Japan.
Following her accomplishment, Simone Biles took to Instagram and remarked, “It was an interesting & unexpected night!”
Notably, Simone’s history-making feat didn’t end there, as she brought her total up to 37 medals following her performance throughout the rest of the weekend, Harper’s Bazaar reports.
While showing love to Simone Biles, we also had to give Khoi Young a shoutout for earning a silver medal in the men’s vaulting event!
This noteworthy development comes only two months after Simone Biles returned to gymnastics following a two-year hiatus, as The Shade Room reported.
Shortly after returning to — and dominating — the sport, she made history by becoming the U.S. gymnast with the most all-around national titles (eight). She specifically broke her tie with Alfred Jochim, who earned his seventh American title a whopping 90 years earlier.
Additionally, her recent U.S. Gymnastics Championships win made Simone the oldest woman to come out on TOP in the competition.
Congratulations to Simone Biles!
