Simone Biles, 26, is showing that she’s BACK in the game, as she dominated the U.S. Classic after taking a 2-year hiatus from gymnastics!
The Core Hydration Classic competition went down in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, over the weekend, and Mrs. Biles Owens reigned supreme.
Specifically, CNN reports that Biles won first place in four categories: all-around, balance beam, vault, and floor routine. As for the uneven bars category, she placed third.
Following her stunning performance, she reportedly told CNBC that the win “felt really good, especially after everything that’s happened over the past year.”
Simone Biles also added that she was “very happy with the result” of her training.
“Everyone that was cheering, made posters and all that in the crowd, it just made my heart melt that they still believe in me and I got back out here and I did what I was training so I’m very happy with the result.”
Beneath a post-championship Instagram post, Simone declared she had “tears of joy [while making] this comeback.” She also thanked her fans for sticking by her side and showering her with support.
We should note that her husband, NFL star Jonathan Owens, commented, “So d*mn proud of you, baby.”
“Makes my day seeing you so happy and back doing what you love, and having FUN!!! I love you so much,” Owens added.
As mentioned, this win marked Simone Biles’ first foray back into gymnastics since stepping back two years ago.
Back in July 2021, Biles memorably pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics, and she later said that she “definitely had the team in [her] best interest” when she made the decision.
“I didn’t want to potentially lose a medal spot for them because the girls were more than prepared to go in and to do their job, which they did.”
At the time, it’s worth adding that Simone remarked that her “mind and body [were] simply not in sync,” and she was going to unapologetically “put health first.”
Shoutout to Simone Biles for showing UP and OUT for her first gymnastics championship in two years!
