Simone Biles is literally a force of nature! Every time she stuns us with her amazing skills as a world champion gymnast, she goes and does even more to further cement her title as the greatest female gymnast of all-time. Well, she now has the medals to prove that title because she just broke another record.
First, let’s remember that the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics are a little less than a year away and Simone Biles is out here putting in jaw-dropping, historic performances well before they even begin. As @CNN reports, she just earned the title of the most decorated female gymnast in history by winning her 21st World Championship medal—and 15 of those medals are gold, which is another record.
The previous record holder was former gymnast Svetlana Khorkina who had 20 medals. Although, Biles just broke multiple records, she is set to break even more because the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team is still competing and could win more medals. At 22, she has achieved the amount of professional success as a female gymnast that many could only hope for.
Later this week, Biles will be competing in the Women’s All-Around Final, competing in all four individual event finals, including vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. If she succeeds in these events, her medal total could reach 26 before the week is over.
If Simone Biles isn’t the definition of #BlackGirlMagic, we don’t know what is. We want to send her a huge congratulations!
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
