Sad news to report, Roommates. Just hours after a shooting on a Greyhound bus in California left one person dead and five injured—another shooting has occurred on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Reportedly, there are two fatalities and a wounded toddler.
According to reports, Monday afternoon two people were killed and one person was wounded in a reported shooting spree at a campus residence hall at Texas A&M University-Commerce. University police Chief Bryan Vaughn, stated that officers responded to a call around 10:17 AM and ultimately found two women dead inside a room at Pride Rock Residence Hall.
Chief Vaughn also said that a 2-year-old boy was also in the room at the time and wounded. The young boy was taken to a hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Texas A&M University police told local media outlets they were “actively investigating” the shooting on campus. A shelter-in-place recommendation was lifted roughly 90 minutes after it was posted on social media. At this time, authorities have not yet identified the shooting suspect, but stressed that currently there appear to be no additional threats on campus.
In a statement, Texas A&M University addressed the shooting:
“There have been two confirmed deaths. The third victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment. UPD has stationed officers throughout the campus, including all key gathering points, for the safety of the campus community.”
