Prime Minister Andrew Holness said on July 3 that roughly 500 people were placed in shelters. A hurricane warning is in effect for Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. Additionally, the coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula from Puerto Costa Maya to Cancun will experience the storm.

In Sheryl’s video, you can hear the high winds and heavy rain as she says, “It’s starting. It’s happening now.” The Emmy winner panned the camera around to show the trees being tossed aggressively by the wind. She added, “We are praying for safety for everybody, and stay off the roads — stay inside because I’m going all the way back inside now.”

The hurricane named Beryl hit the Southeast Caribbean, “brushing the south coast of Jamaica.” AP reports that three people have died in Grenada, Petite Martinique and Carriacous. Additionally, another person was killed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Furthermore, three people died in Venezuela.
