Over the weekend, activist Shaun King shared that his 19-year-old daughter Kendi had suffered a brain injury after being hit by a car in the Manhattan area of New York City. He asked for prayers as he shared details about Kendi’s injuries.
On Tuesday, Shaun updated his supporters on his daughter’s condition and said, “I wanted to take some time out this morning to thank you all for praying for our daughter and sending our family encouragement this week. It’s meant the world. She was moved out of the surgical ICU and has gotten better and better daily as she started physical and cognitive therapy. Doctors and nurses and staff have been great.”
He continued, “If she meets all of her goals, which we think she will, we will be able to bring her home soon. @MrsRaiKing and I are mainly exhausted. This year has been brutal and has tested our resolve in ways you just can’t prepare for. But we’re still here. Still love each other. And right now that’s enough.”
As we previously reported, Shaun shared a video of his daughter laying in the hospital bed and said, “24 of the hardest hours of our lives. Our daughter Kendi, who is 19, was hit by a car while she was walking in Manhattan and suffered a brain injury, And several serious head and body injuries. I’ve been here in the ICU with her since yesterday morning.”
We are continuing to keep Kendi lifted in prayer as she makes a full recovery.
