The upcoming sequel to the comedy classic Coming To America has steadily been announcing several exciting cast updates, but there is one that fans have been holding out hope for—and let’s just say the “queen” has returned to her throne.
As reported by @shadow_act, actress Shari Headley, who famously portrayed Prince Hakeem’s “queen to be” Lisa McDowell, has officially signed on to reprise her role in the film. With the addition o Headley to the cast, it appears that most of the major players from the original film have returned to the delight of fans everywhere.
Including star Eddie Murphy, Headley also joins, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Paul Bates, Wesley Snipes, KiKi Layne, Rick Ross, Leslie Jones and Jermaine Fowler. Headley was reportedly the last main cast member needed to sign her deal to return.
In case you need a refresher, Coming To America 2 focuses on Prince Akeem returning to America when he discovers he has a long-lost son. The film will be directed by Craig Brewer with a script by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and is set to hit theaters in 2020.
Well this is certainly shaping up to be a must-see movie event!
