#Roommates, somebody is in troubleeeeeee. Reports have confirmed law enforcement officers have seized 38 bricks of cocaine at JFK Airport valuing $1.3 million. First of all, I can’t even get certain tweezers through TSA, so how this happened is a mystery to me!
But anyway, according to @ABCNews, U.S. Customs and Border Protection are reaching for the owner of the suitcase that went unclaimed (for very obvious reasons). It seems the suitcase came from a flight from Quito, Ecuador straight into JFK last week, taking advantage of the busy Thanksgiving holiday.
For those who don’t know, I personally just learned this, 38 bricks of cocaine is about 100 pounds. The CBP gave a statement about the hefty bust saying: “This seizure is another example of CBP officers being vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of dangerous drugs.”
Interestingly enough, Ecuador is ranked second on the list of South American countries with the most seized cocaine, right behind Columbia according to a White House report.
The good news, is this seizure was a huge win for the CBP!
