I don’t know if y’all have been paying attention to all of Ciara’s Black Girl Magic, but sis has definitely been securing the bag lately, specifically when it comes to these hosting engagements.
Well, it seems the people love them some Cici and now ABC is going to give the people what they want because it was recently announced that she’ll be bringing in the new year for the entire West Coast as host of the iconic “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, Deadline reports. That’s another major bag for Ciara, who just successfully hosted the #AmericanMusicAwards and earlier this year she hosted ESPN’s Sports Humanitarian Awards.
“Hosting ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest’ has become something I look forward to every year, and now my friend Lucy Hale and Billy Porter have joined the family, so the party just leveled up!” Ciara said. “I am going to be performing my new song ‘Melanin,’ so I hope all my melanin kings and queens tune-in to rock out with me and the amazing line-up of performers this year.”
Ciara will be joined by #MeganTheeStallion, Paula Abdul, Dua Lipa and Salt-N-Pepa among other performers at the televised event.
In grand tradition, this year marks the 48th anniversary of the Dick Clark New Year’s special, and will include 5 1⁄2 hours of performances and reports on New Year’s celebrations from around the world.
In addition to Ciara on the West Coast, Ryan Seacrest will continue to hold it down as host of the primetime festivities for his 15th year. Ryan will lead the traditional countdown to midnight from Times Square in New York City, joined by co-host, Lucy Hale.
Billy Porter will host the 4th annual Central Time Zone celebration from New Orleans.
And this year, country artist Jessie James Decker will reveal the first-ever First Powerball Millionaire of the Year during this year’s live broadcast. Decker will provide live updates from the First Powerball Millionaire of the Year party throughout ABC’s live telecast, and the reveal announcing the winner will air just after midnight on the first day of the year.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020 will broadcast live on Tuesday, December 31, beginning at 8 p.m. EST on the ABC Television Network.
