After Jesse Williams’ leaked nudes took the innanet by storm for his performance in the Broadway revival of “Take Me Out.” Second Stage Theater is taking action to prevent further leaks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Second Stage announced their plans to take action to remove the photo circulating online and, in addition, will be adding more staff to enforce the theater’s no-phone policy.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the theatre condemned publishing and sharing the images and is appalled that its “policy has been violated and unauthorized footage of our acting company has been posted.” The statement read, “It is deeply unfortunate that one audience member chose to disrespect the production, their fellow audience members, and, most importantly, the cast in this manner.”
It continued, “Taking naked pictures of anyone without their consent is highly objectionable and can have severe legal consequences. posting it on the internet is a gross and unacceptable violation of trust between the actor and the audience forged in the theater community.” Although Jesse is active on Instagram, he hasn’t spoken out about his leaked nudes being online. However, that hasn’t stopped the play’s co-star, Jesse Ferguson, from calling the culprit behind the photo out.
Jesse Ferguson tweeted, “I’m appalled by the disrespect shown to the actors of our company whose vulnerability on stage every night is crucial to Take Me Out,” he wrote on Twitter. “Anyone who applauds or trivializes this behavior has no place in the theater, which has always been a safe space for artists & audience members.” Roommates, what are your thoughts on the theatre’s plan of action?
